Overview: Five Miles Astride the River: The Story of Wayland is a 17-minute documentary tracing the historical development of Wayland, Massachusetts, a small town located 20 miles west of Boston. The film explores three eras of the town's development: its origins in the colonial era, its rapid development during the Industrial Revolution and its transition to a modern suburb after World War II. The film was funded by the Wayland Historical Society in honor of the town’s 375th anniversary.
